COURSE DESCRIPTION
Study 3 days per week for 18monts on our Part Time Beauty Therapy Diploma course. This course offers you everything you need to be able to work as an aesthetician and massage therapist within the beauty industry, and even guarantees employment within the Champneys group!
The course includes both ITEC and CIDESCO qualifications - ITEC Level 2 Beauty Specialist Treatments, ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Techniques and the CIDESCO Certificate in Aesthetics.
Students who wish to study our ITEC Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Skincare as part of this course can book at a discounted rate when enrolling.
CIDESCO qualifications are recognised and respected worldwide within the Beauty and Spa Industry with graduates continuing to ‘stand out’ in an increasingly competitive skills market.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This qualification is for learners seeking to achieve the highest possible level of training in beauty. Students must be self motivate with a desire to succeed.
Created in response to changes in government legislation requiring young people to stay in full time education until the age of 18, the eighteen-month option is a great way to study for 16-18 year olds though it appeals to applicants of any age who prefer to study part time.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Age:
Minimum age of entry is 16yrs. There is no maximum age and we welcome mature students and career changers.
Qualifications:
You will need to have passed 5 GCSEs at a grade 4 or higher - two of these must be in English and Maths with sciences preferred.
(APPLICATIONS ARE CONSIDERED/ACCEPTED BEFORE GCSE RESULTS ARE OBTAINED)
Students who have previously studied at Level 3 (A-Level) can choose to be enrolled for the ITEC L4 Diploma in Advanced Skincare, otherwise this can be discussed between student/tutor after their Level 3 beauty exams.
Mature students can choose to enrol on the Level 4 qualification subject to submission of a personal statement and interview. Maturity and experience will be taken into account

COURSE STRUCTURE
Next start date: 25th September 2023
The content covered and exam structure is the same as for the fast track qualification but taught over 18 months, three days per week.
Success in the L2 & L3 ITEC qualifications must be attained in order to sit the CIDESCO examination. During the last part of the course, students will increase their theoretical knowledge and practical skills with additional advanced treatments as well as Elemis training whilst working towards their CIDESCO exams. For students not sitting the Level 4 qualification, there will be additional time to focus on the Level 3 assignments and CIDESCO project.
Part one
In the first part of the course you will learn aesthetics treatments: Facials, Facial Electrical treatments, Microdermabrasion, Manicure, Pedicure, Waxing and Make-up & Eye Treatments. Exams are in May when you will gain your L2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Treatments and learn Facial Electrotherapy and Microdermabrasion making you a qualified Aesthetician.
Part two
During the second part you will build on your A&P knowledge as you move into body therapy. You will learn Body Massage, Aromatherapy, Hot Stone Massage, Indian Head Massage and other additional subjects. You will gain your ITEC Diplomas in L3 Beauty Therapy Techniques and L4 Advanced Skincare (some students only) in part two with final ITEC exams in October and December.
The final term will develop and enhance your skills taking you to a higher standard to gain the CIDESCO Aesthetics qualification in February. You will also cover Champneys and Elemis training, have a week's work experience at a Champneys Spa or City Spa and learn Lava Shells Massage and Wavestone.
After the exams, students are fully qualified and can go into employment. We are pleased to be able to offer guaranteed employment within the Champneys Group for all Graduates of this course.
DELIVERY METHOD
Teaching is a blend of salon-based theory and practical delivery with a strong emphasis on working on clients in the college salon. Those also studying Level 4 do so both online and in person.
ASSESSMENT
ITEC exams are modular with exams being sat throughout the course (see above). A minimum of 60% for each exam is required for an overall pass.
The examination for the Certificate in Aesthetics consists of three parts:

DELIVERY MODE
Part time, 3 days per week. For the 2023 intake the teaching days will be Monday to Wednesday.
HOURS
9.30am - 5.30pm
Some late Wednesdays and Saturdays are required during the course; 2 hours per night home study is expected
